Defense Sprays are designed to provide a short-range defense against attackers by shooting a stream of painful or marking chemicals to disable or otherwise mark an assailant. While painful stinging can disable attackers, it may also blind them and cause respiratory difficulty which arrests breathing to the point of disablement. Marking sprays, such as those utilizing UV dye, mark an attacker with an unwashable identifier that can be used later by police to apprehend a criminal, and can dissuade an attack from occurring in the first place.

Pepper Spray Legal Information

Owning and Using Pepper Spray is Restricted in the Following States:

New York: Residents may only purchase defense sprays from licensed Firearms Dealers or licensed Pharmacists in that state.

Massachusetts: Residents may only purchase defense sprays from licensed Firearms Dealers in that state.

Pepper Sprays are Somewhat Restricted in the Following States:

Michigan: OC Pepper spray may not be stronger then a 2% concentrate (Different companies can sell different concentrations.) Only CS gas is legal, and only 35 grams are allowable per can. No combination spray allowed.

Wisconsin: Pepper spray is permitted, but tear gas, UV Dye, or combination sprays are prohibited. OC may not be stronger then a 10% solution and canisters must be between 15-60 grams and include a safety feature.

California: Pepper spray is permitted, but canisters can not hold more that 2.5 ounces or 70 grams of OC.
