Secured and Prepaid Credit Cards

By: Eddy Allen

Secured and prepaid credit cards are popular with those who want to rebuild their cards. What is the difference between them?

Secured Credit Cards. They look like the usual credit cards, but with small risk for the card user. The money kept on the account secure a line of credit under the condition – the deposited money cover 100-200% of credit card’s limit.

Secured cardholders should be responsible for paying in time. It helps to make a good credit history which is favorable for the rebuilding damaged credit.
Disadvantage of secured cards is the difficulty in using a lump amount of cash as the deposit. The point is if you have a tight cash, you are not able to get any type of credit card.
Prepaid Credit Cards.

Prepaid cards look like the debit cards. This card issuer is not offered any actual credit, but they have small monthly fees. They are popular among the parents of youth, because they can have the spending limits. Prepaid cards may also rebuild your credit. Some people use their Visas or MasterCards there, where its brands are accepted. Issuer can vary monthly fees themselves.
Prepaid and secured cards have the same functions with a few distinctions. They help people to improve the credit situation.

But if you are a responsible payer, don’t need to control the card spends, it would be better for you to use the standard credit card. Choose the most suitable and use it.
